About

Artefacto lives on the reverse side of the portraits, on the objects that were left out of the frame in the artist’s studio, in the bag or the suitcase of the model. Artefacto vindicates those forgotten beings. Although these hidden objects were lost forever, Virginia and Ella rescue them as visual poetry, as poetic archaeology. They imagine the objects which the portrayed women could have carried and choose some other items that perhaps never were there but fit perfectly. Artefacto finds them by rummaging in the flea markets, in the rubble, in the antique dealers and at friends’ places to get them close to the portrait and tell another story.
